Jubilee Park

Jubilee Park offers the best passive and unstructured recreational opportunities in the city. From paved walking and bike trails, to picnic areas, sliding hill and playground, Jubilee Park provides a multitude of outdoor activities in your community of choice!

Picnic Area and Picnic Shelter

Charcoal BBQ grills are provided at the picnic areas. Charcoal is encouraged. Fire wood may be used and is supplied once a week and is dropped at a central location (near picnic shelter). Bringing your own wood is encouraged. Please use all fire safety precautions when using the BBQ grills. Do not leave unattended, and allow the fire to fully extinguish before leaving the picnic area.

Park areas including the park amenities such as the picnic shelter, picnic areas, first pits, etc are not formally
booked for exclusive use, but are available on a first come, first served basis. The dimensions of the picnic shelter are 25' x 40'.

Alcohol consumption

As part of the updated Open Space Area Bylaw, alcohol consumption by adults of legal drinking age is allowed in the designated Alcohol Allowed Zone at the north end of the park. Read more about alcohol consumption at Jubilee Park.

Liberty swing

The Liberty Swing is an accessible swing specially designed for people who use wheelchairs or have mobility challenges. It is located at the main playground at Jubilee Park. Refer to the video for step-by-step instructions on how to use the swing. There are several features that make the Liberty Swing safe and easy to use, including:

  • an access ramp
  • a wheel locking mechanism
  • a pop-up seat for people with mobility impairments
  • a safety harness

A key is required to release the ramp and access the built-in seatbelt. To access the key, contact the Border Paving Athletic Centre during regular operating hours at 780-962-7632, or speak to a City staff member at the Jubilee Spray Park during staffed operating hours

Instructions for wheelchair use:

  • Seatbelt must be used at all times!
  • Capsule seat must be in down position
  • Reverse wheelchair into capsule as far back as possible
  • Apply handbrake or turn off power
  • Apply wheel locking chain
  • Fit and fasten seatbelt

Instructions for capsule seat use:

  1. Seatbelt must be used at all times!
  2. Lift seat up
  3. Lift support leg into position
  4. Lower seat into lock position on support leg
  5. Seat user; fit and fasten seatbelt

Wheel locking device

  1. Turn knob counterclockwise to release tension
  2. Pull chain through wheel firmly and secure over hook
  3. Tighten by turning adjuster knob clockwise
  4. Check wheelchair for stability

The Liberty Swings at Jubilee Park and Rotary Park in Stony Plain were purchased by the Foundation for Cohesive Communities, thanks to a generous private donation from John and Colleen Prince of Parkland County.
