Youth Advisory Committee
The Youth Advisory Committee provides youth an opportunity to engage in the community to accurately represent a youth perspective on a variety of municipal issues and provide recommendations to Council on these issues. The committee is responsible for coordinating youth specific initiatives that profile local youth issues, develop relationships with partners addressing youth issues, provide recommendations to Council on matters that directly impact the youth, offer a youth lens on youth-oriented City programs and services and consult with Administration to support youth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Youth resident of the City of Spruce Grove between the age of 12 and 18, as of September 1
- Interest and commitment to enhance youth events in the City
- Willingness to create an environment where youth feel empowered and comfortable to share ideas
Time Commitment
The Youth Advisory Committee will meet approximately once per month with the exception of July and August. The Committee holds youth led events as scheduled.
Term of Appointment
Members of the Youth Advisory Committee will be appointed to a term of one (1) year and automatically renew for one (1) year until age of Committee majority or up to a maximum of three (3) terms, pending agreement of the youth member.
Bursary
Youth Members who fulfill their commitment to the Committee as outlined the Youth Advisory Committee Bylaw, will be awarded a $500 bursary after the end of the appointment and upon registration in a Certification Program. Youth Members are entitled to only one bursary.
