Stuart Houston

For 17 years, Stuart Houston was a driving force in Spruce Grove’s minor baseball program, serving as a coach, manager, and rep director during key formative years. His passion for the game created opportunities for players at all levels, supporting their development from house league through to the highest level available in Alberta. Under his leadership, the program transitioned from AA to AAA competition, leading to the creation of the highly successful Spruce Grove Whitesox AAA program in partnership with Stony Plain and Parkland County. This program thrived for 23 years laying the foundation for what is now the Parkland Twins program—recognized as one of Alberta’s premier baseball organizations.

Stuart later served the City of Spruce Grove for 24 years as an elected official. A strong advocate for community development through sport, he championed and supported the expansion of major recreational facilities across the city. Significant upgrades to ball diamonds, along with new facilities for football, gymnastics, ice sports, and pickleball helped position Spruce Grove as a desirable community for families seeking a high quality of life with active, healthy lifestyles.
