Mayor Jeff Acker

As a life-long Spruce Grove resident, Mayor Jeff Acker is committed to this community. He first joined City Council in 2007, completing two terms as Councillor before returning in the 2019 by-election. He was then elected as Mayor in 2021 and re-elected in 2025, a position that was previously held by his father Joe Acker.

Over the years, Mayor Acker has served on multiple Council committees, including the Spruce Grove Economic Development Advisory Committee, TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre Board, and the Spruce Grove Library Board. In 2022, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal alongside his father Joe and brother Jason and following his re-election in 2025, Mayor Acker was appointed Chair of the Alberta Mid-Sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus and selected as Vice Chair for the board of Edmonton Global Shareholders Group.

Outside of the Mayor’s office, Mayor Acker owns and operates a small business that provides custom web application and database development services for clients across North America, including both multi-national and local organizations.

He enjoys giving back to the community and is a member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council, the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Royal Canadian Legion Spruce Grove Branch 281, and the Spruce Grove & District Agricultural Society. He can also regularly be found attending local events and festivities with his wife Jodie and daughter Sophia.

In his free time, Mayor Acker likes to go camping with family and friends and cheer on the Edmonton Oilers and the Spruce Grove Saints on game days.

Favourite amenity in Spruce Grove: The Heritage Grove Park trail system that runs throughout Spruce Grove and connects all the amazing green spaces that everyone can enjoy.

Fun fact: Mayor Acker was first elected as Mayor in 2021, which is 20 years after his father Joe Acker retired as Mayor in 2001.
