Councillor Spencer Bennett
Councillor Spencer Bennett is a lifelong resident of Spruce Grove who brings deep roots and a strong commitment to his community to his role, currently serving his first term on Spruce Grove City Council.
Councillor Bennett earned a Bachelor of Commerce from MacEwan University and began his career as a Financial Advisor. He later spent time working in the Alberta Legislature before returning to the University of Alberta to complete a Bachelor of Education. He is now a teacher, bringing together his strengths in communication, leadership, and community engagement. He has taught at several schools throughout Spruce Grove and Parkland County and is known for rewarding hard work with smelly stickers.
An active and engaged member of the community, Councillor Bennett has served on the Spruce Grove Community Services Advisory Committee, volunteered as a youth leader in several local programs, and worked as a basketball referee. He was deeply involved with Scouts Canada, earning both the Chief Scout Award and the Queen Venture Award. In addition, he has volunteered with all three levels of government and spent time serving on a church mission in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
The eldest of eight siblings, Councillor Bennett loves to spend time with his family. He can often be found cracking dad jokes and playing board games around the kitchen table with his wife, two children, and two stepchildren. He also loves to cook and bake, and is always eager to try new foods, especially spicy Mexican candy.

Fun fact: If you see Councillor Bennett step up to the mic at karaoke night, expect to hear Amish Paradise by Weird Al Yankovic.
