Councillor Jeff Tokar
Prior to being elected to Spruce Grove City Council in 2025, Councillor Jeff Tokar has sat on a number of City boards and committees, including the Road Safety Advisory Committee, Spruce Grove Library Board, and the Community Services Advisory Committee.
Councillor Tokar’s professional background is in electrical engineering and for the past eight years he has worked as a Practice Manager, leading the technical efforts of a team of sales engineers at OpenText. Previously, he worked as a telecommunications engineer and enterprise management team lead for Shaw Cable. He’s also held positions at Hewlett Packard Software and Micro Focus, receiving multiple awards for his professional contributions.
Councillor Tokar is an active member of the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove in the roles of Services Projects Director and treasurer of the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove Community Partners Society.
Hockey is close to Councillor Tokar’s heart. Not only is he a coach for the Spruce Grove Minor Hockey Association, but you’ll often find him at the Thompson Family Arena at Heavy Metal Place cheering on the Spruce Grove Saints. Outside from hockey, he also devotes time to skiing, golf, table games, and cooking for his wife Michelle, their daughter and son.
Favourite Spruce Grove amenity: Heavy Metal Place’s union of recreation and culture is an excellent reflection of the community and being an accessibility-focused city.
Fun fact: For many years, you could find Councillor Tokar up on stage during the “parent” dance at the Ward School of Dance year-end performances.
