Councillor Danielle Carter
Councillor Danielle Carter has a strong background in municipal government with almost 10 years experience in land use planning and economic development within the Edmonton area. Councillor Carter was first elected to Spruce Grove City Council in 2021 and was re-elected in 2025. She also has the honour of being the youngest person in Canada to achieve their Certified Economic Developer designation.
Her involvement in Council committees has included serving as Chair of the both the Economic Development Advisory Committee and the Parkland Regional Water Commission, as well as sitting on the City Centre Business Association and Youth Advisory Committee.
Councillor Carter has had a passion for ice skating since she was young, earning a gold medal at the 2008 Alberta Winter Games. She continues to be involved in the sport, supporting young skaters as a coach and Club Director with the Tri Area Skating Club.
She is an active volunteer in the community and serves as an advisory member for the Stollery Women’s Network among various other boards and committees in the region.
Outside of her professional life, Councillor Carter enjoys spending time travelling and camping with her husband Darcy, two daughters, and one stepdaughter, as well as getting together with friends and a glass of wine at her book club. You may also bump into Councillor Carter during her regular walks on the Heritage Grove Park trail system.
Favourite Spruce Grove amenity: Central Park is a city hub with the Heritage Grove Park trail system going through it, the new playground and skate park, and is always buzzing with activity with events like the annual Light Up celebration.
Fun fact: Councillor Carter was born in New Zealand.
