Civic Centre Project Updates

Spruce Grove City Council received an update on the Civic Centre project at the Regular Council meeting on February 27, 2023.

November 3, 2022
Groundbreaking event officially marks start of history-making Civic Centre project.

October 2022
Advanced design work indicates cost estimates for the project are within the approved budget, which contains an appropriate amount of contingency if required during construction. Updated renderings of the building, which were developed with stakeholder engagement, were also presented. Initial phasing of tenders for the project is also complete and it is anticipated that construction work will begin in November 2022.

June 2022
Spruce Grove City Council was presented with the proposed budget for the Civic Centre project during a Council meeting on June 13, 2022.

May 2022
Spruce Grove City Council was presented with an update on the proposed Civic Centre, including the design concept, during a special Council meeting on Monday, May 30.

January 2022
An RFP for a Construction Manager to assist with preliminary design of the proposed Civic Centre was issued and is now posted on the Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC) website.

December 2021
The City continues to work through the preliminary design of the proposed Civic Centre that will help identify the project’s final size, cost estimates, and amenities. We expect to return to Council in the spring of 2022 with more information that will inform future decisions on the development.

At the direction of City Council in April 2021, the City of Spruce Grove has been working on a preliminary design of the proposed Civic Centre. The preliminary design will help identify the project’s final size, cost estimates, amenities, and location. This will provide Council with a detailed concept for the project that will inform the decision on moving forward with development.

April 2021
At the April 26, 2021, Spruce Grove Regular City Council meeting, Council approved a recommendation to move forward with the preliminary design of a Civic Centre based on the concept in the report and presentation. The entire Council meeting is available online.
