Weekday Snow Removal Updates
When snow removal is in progress, the information below will be updated daily Monday to Friday during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Please note this information is subject to change depending on factors including, but not limited to, weather conditions (such as additional snowfall that requires crews to revisit higher priority roads), equipment availability, and the amount of snowpack to be cleared.
February 24 update
UPDATE: Snow routes and City Centre snow removal is now complete. Thank you for your cooperation!
Significant progress has been made on clearing snow routes throughout Spruce Grove with 339 loads of snow being removed yesterday. Crews are continuing to work on snow routes and you can check progress online. Remember that if you see yellow signs on a snow route, parking is not permitted until signs have been removed.
Additionally, crews have been working to clear snow from the City Centre area. Parking in that area is not permitted until white notification signs have been removed.
Snow routes are currently active in Spruce Grove so please ensure any vehicles or other obstacles (such as basketball hoops or hockey nets) have been moved to ensure crews have plenty of room to work. There are nearly 37 kilometres of snow routes to clear in Spruce Grove, so your cooperation plays a big role in supporting safe and efficient snow removal operations on these high-traffic roads.
As a reminder, City Centre snow removal will begin Tuesday (February 24). Watch for white notification signage and ensure any vehicles in the area have been moved by 7 a.m. on that date as parking is not permitted until white signs have been removed.
Snow routes have been declared active in Spruce Grove! Snow routes, also known as collector roads, are the main, high-traffic roads typically located within subdivisions. Crews will begin clearing snow routes on Monday, February 23, at 7 a.m. at which time parking restrictions will be in effect. Please look for yellow signs in your neighbourhood and check progress online. Not sure if you park on a snow route? Look for the permanently fixed signs along the road! As a reminder, parking is not permitted until routes have been cleared and yellow signs have been removed. Thanks in advance for moving your vehicles and any other obstacles (such as basketball hoops or hockey nets) from streets to support safe and efficient snow removal.
City Centre snow removal will begin Tuesday (February 24). Watch for white notification signage and ensure any vehicles in the area have been moved by 7 a.m. on that date as parking is not permitted until white signs have been removed.
Crews are wrapping up snow removal on Priority 1, 2, and 3 roads today, including arterials like Grove Drive and Calahoo Road, Highway 16A, and emergency access routes. Sand is being applied in areas where it's needed to ensure roads stay safe and accessible during this winter weather.
Priority 1A and 1B walkways are complete - adjacent to City-owned buildings and transit stops, along arterial and collector road right-of-ways, and near private properties.
Today, crews are placing white signs in the City Centre Area to notify drivers, residents, and businesses that snow removal operations will be starting soon. The signs indicate the date that snow removal will begin and that parking is not permitted. Signs are posted at least 48 hours in advance of the start of snow removal operations.
We understand winter travel can be tricky, and your cooperation and patience are very much appreciated! It helps these operations run smoothly and lets our crews focus on keeping roads safe and keeping the city moving - even on snowiest of days!
Tuesday’s winter storm still has many of us digging out – City snow removal crews included! Crews are continuing to clear Priority 1, 2, and 3 roads, which are typically the most travelled and include arterial roads such as Century Road and Jennifer Heil Way. Combined, there are approximately 35 kilometres of Priority 1, 2, and 3 roads to clear, so we appreciate your patience while crews tackle Spruce Grove Snowmageddon 2.0!
Additionally, crews are working to clear Priority 1A and 1B walkways. Priority 1A walkways are adjacent to City-owned buildings and transit stops and Priority 1B walkways are typically located along arterial and collector road right-of-ways, and near private properties.
We know it may be taking you a bit longer to get around right now, but rest assured that while the snow has stopped (for now, anyway!), our crews have not! When you see them out on City streets and walkways, please give them room to work so they can keep our streets safe and clear.
The snow has returned and that means crews have been busy clearing and sanding priority roadways, including Highway 16A, arterial roads (such as Grove Drive, Century Road, Calahoo Road, and Jennifer Heil Way) and emergency access ways. Be sure to watch for the City’s newly named snowplows – Clearopathra, Sir Plows a Lot, Blade Runner, and Plowzilla – and please give them and any other snow removal equipment plenty of room to work. Also, if you need to head out today, please give yourself extra time to get to your destination and drive to the conditions.
During and following a snowfall event, residents also have an important role to play:
- Please clear sidewalks and put down sand or gravel to help with traction. Free sand is available to residents at the Public Works building on weekdays (please limit amount taken to 5 gallons or 20 litres per visit).
- Remember that snow from your sidewalk, walkway, driveway, or driving pad can’t be shovelled or blown onto roadways, public property or into alleys.
- Do you have a fire hydrant, utility box, or transformer on or adjacent to your property? Be sure to keep snow cleared around them to allow access as needed.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to keep Spruce Grove’s streets safe and clear.
City crews are currently clearing snow from alleys throughout Spruce Grove and work is approximately 50 per cent complete. See an online progress chart and schedule for alley snow removal.
Residential street snow removal is now complete in Spruce Grove. A huge thank you to the community for your patience and cooperation, and to the City’s snow removal crews for their efforts and extended hours to clear Spruce Grove’s residential neighbourhoods.

The volume of snow and ice that crews have been removing from residential streets has put pressure on snow removal equipment, which has resulted in some necessary repair work. Despite these challenges, crews are hopeful that all residential snow removal will be completed by the end of the day on Friday (January 30).
Crews continue to face challenges with residents parking their vehicles on streets where snow removal has been scheduled. Parking on residential streets during scheduled snow removal operations is not permitted. Watch for orange signs in neighbourhoods that will tell you when snow removal operations are scheduled to begin and ensure vehicles are moved by 7 a.m. on this date or check the online progress chart for details.

We’re heading into the final week of residential snow removal in Spruce Grove, with all subdivision areas expected to be complete on or around January 30. We’d once again like to thank residents for their patience during this time – we know it’s been challenging! Full residential snow removal is a huge undertaking that involves clearing snow from approximately 94 km of neighbourhood streets, which, under normal conditions, takes about 19 days. It requires significant resources, collaboration, and the ability to pivot when new conditions or equipment challenges come up, but our crews are doing their very best to keep Spruce Grove’s roads safe, clear, and ready for travel.
Residential snow removal is expected to be complete today (January 26) in Deer Park and will extend into tomorrow (January 27) in Harvest Ridge. Between January 23-25, 303 loads of snow were transported to the City’s snow dump.
Crews are running into some challenges with vehicles that are not being moved from streets or people who are parking next to windrows of snow, which can cause delays. To support safe and efficient snow removal, residents are reminded that parking on residential streets during scheduled snow removal operations is not permitted. Watch for orange signs in neighbourhoods that will tell you when snow removal operations are scheduled to begin and ensure vehicles are moved by 7 a.m. on this date or check the online progress chart.
Today snow removal crews will complete residential snow removal in Grove Meadows and Lakewood, which means 63% of subdivision areas will be cleared.
Due to necessary equipment repairs, changes have been made to the residential street clearing schedule and, unfortunately, this means the Hilldowns area, which was originally scheduled for today, has been rescheduled to next week (January 27). Residents can find the updated schedule online.

Please ensure all vehicles have been moved from these residential streets by 7 a.m. on the day snow removal is scheduled to begin to support safe and efficient snow removal operations.
Night crews have finished blading work to level out the front streets in residential areas that are still waiting for full snow removal. Blading will also occur in some back alleys to help improve accessibility until full alley snow removal is performed. Crews are scheduled to carry out complete snow removal in the back alleys of Brookwood and Broxton Park this coming weekend.
Yesterday (January 21) over a 24-hour period, 412 loads of snow were transported to the City’s snow dump. Since December 30, 2025, that brings the total number of loads to 5,483.
Residential street snow removal is scheduled to finish in Spruce Village and Kenton today (January 21) and will begin in Grove Meadows and Lakewood tomorrow (January 22), and Hilldowns on January 23. See the online progress chart.
Night shift crews will continue blading front streets to help level out ruts, which is anticipated to be complete tonight. Then, the night shift crew will shift its focus to using an ice breaker and grader in back alleys to help make them passable until full alley snow removal is scheduled. Additionally, crews will continue snow removal from back alleys over the coming weekend, specifically in Brookwood and Broxton Park.
Yesterday (January 20) over a 24-hour period, 385 loads of snow were transported to the City’s snow dump.

Crews are facing challenges with vehicles that remain parked on streets that are scheduled to be cleared. Vehicles must be moved from the street during scheduled snow removal operations. Please look for orange signs at the entrance to subdivisions indicating when snow removal is scheduled to start or watch for online updates.
Residential street snow removal is underway today (January 19) in Aspenglen/Jesperdale and Millgrove and is scheduled to start in Aspenglen/Creekside and Copperhaven tomorrow (January 20), followed by Spruce Village/Kenton on January 21, Grove Meadows and Lakewood on January 22, and Hilldowns on January 23. Look for orange signs at the entrance to subdivisions indicating when snow removal is scheduled to start or watch for online updates. Please remember to move vehicles from the street during scheduled snow removal operations.
Additionally, City crews have been out with graders to level out ruts in neighbourhoods that are still waiting for full residential snow removal. To date, Legacy Park, McLaughlin, Woodhaven, and Greenbury have been bladed, and Prescott is anticipated to be done tonight (January 19).
Over the past 24 hours, crews have moved 336 loads of snow to the City’s snow dump.
Thanks to favourable weather conditions, crews have been able to accelerate residential snow removal operations. Today (January 16) crews are working in the alleys of the City Centre area, and while work in the Aspenglen/Jesperdale subdivision isn’t scheduled to start until Monday (January 19), crews are there today working to clear the main road (vehicles on the main road today will not be ticketed or towed). Residential street snow removal will continue in Aspenglen/Jesperdale and Millgrove on Monday, followed by Aspenglen/Creekside and Copperhaven on January 20, Spruce Village/Kenton on January 21, and Grove Meadows and Lakewood on January 22. It is anticipated that all residential snow removal will be complete by January 30. Check status updates online.
Over the weekend, crews will continue snow removal in back alleys and on Sunday evening, as temperatures cool, the night crew will focus on blading ruts on the front streets of subdivisions. This approach is being implemented due to the volume of snow that has been received, and work will be done in reverse order on the residential snow removal rotation map to prioritize those residents who have experienced longer wait times for snow removal.
Residential street snow removal has now been completed in 11 subdivisions and work will resume today (January 15) in Broxton Park and Brookwood and is scheduled for Millgrove and Aspenglen/Jesperdale on January 19 and Copperhaven on January 20. Look for orange signs at the entrance to subdivisions indicating when snow removal is scheduled to start or watch for online updates. As a reminder, there is no parking on signed residential streets starting at 7 a.m. on the date snow removal is scheduled to begin until snow removal is complete and signs are removed.
Additionally, with overnight temperatures expected to drop below freezing tonight, City crews plan to be out with graders to level out ruts in neighbourhoods that are still waiting for full residential snow removal. We're taking this approach as a result of the tremendous amount of snowfall we've received and this work will be done in reverse order on the residential snow removal rotation map to prioritize those residents who have experienced longer wait times for snow removal. The cooler temperatures are necessary for this work, which will help provide some relief for drivers until full residential snow removal is completed in these areas. Crews will also begin some alley snow removal over the weekend.
