Household Hazardous Waste

Many common household products contain hazardous chemicals which can be dangerous if not properly disposed. Small quantities accumulate over time and contaminate the air, water, and soil. Products that are flammable, corrosive, explosive or toxic should not be disposed of in landfills or sewage systems.

Many, but not all, household hazardous waste products will have one of these symbols:

How to Dispose of it

Household hazardous waste is accepted at the Eco Centre free of charge. If possible, bring materials in their original containers; otherwise ensure the container is clearly labelled. Never combine materials. Unidentified materials will not be accepted.

Commercial and industrial waste must be disposed of through regional facilities.
