Wheeled Sports Park Programs

Get ready to roll this summer at the Spruce Grove Wheeled Sports Park!

Whether you’re brand new or already building your skills, the park will be buzzing with opportunities to learn, try something new, and connect with others who love to ride. All programs are designed to promote inclusion, build confidence, and create a positive space for riders of all ages and abilities.

Ride Ready

Dates: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (Starts MondayJuly 6 and runs until Friday, August 21. *No program on July 10 due to other events in Central Park).

Ride Ready is a scheduled time where City of Spruce Grove Program Staff are onsite at the Wheeled Sports Park to help create a welcoming, supportive, and positive environment for all users. Staff are there to promote safe park use, encourage positive etiquette, and support respectful shared use of the space. Program Staff are available to connect with participants, answer questions, and help foster an inclusive and encouraging park culture. While staff may or may not have experience with wheeled sports, their focus is on ensuring everyone feels comfortable in the space, supported, and set up for a positive experience — whether you’re a first-time rider or a family enjoying the surrounding park space.

Skateboard "Try it" Sessions with Project Rad

Dates: Mondays, July 13, 20, 27, and August 10

Curious about skateboarding? Come give it a try! Join Project Rad Skateboarding and their certified coaches during this one-hour “Try It” session at the Spruce Grove Wheeled Sports Park. This program is free and drop-in with the goal of creating a low-pressure way to try out skateboarding. Skateboards and safety equipment will be available to use during the session. Waivers must be signed on site prior to participation. Minors wishing to participate will be required to have their parent/guardian to sign their waiver.

Project Rad Skateboarding Lessons

$50 per participant for 4 lessons

The City of Spruce Grove has partnered with Project Rad Skateboarding to host beginner skateboard Lessons at our new Wheeled Sports Park. These lessons are for first-time riders (those with little to no experience) and will introduce participants to the basics of skateboarding in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. Participants will learn foundational skills like riding, turning, riding ramps and banks, dropping in, and an introduction to ollies. Certified Project Rad Skateboarding Coaches provide safe, inclusive, and beginner-friendly programming that focuses on building confidence, skill development, and a sense of belonging for all experience levels. Helmets and closed toe shoes are required. Skateboards are available to borrow during the program.

To ensure a safe, respectful, and fun experience for all users, the following rules must be followed:

Safety first

  • Children aged 10 and under should be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • Helmets are strongly recommended, along with elbow, knee, and wrist pads.
  • Stay alert and watch out for other riders or bystanders.

Be respectful

  • Take turns and share the space.
  • Vulgar language and poor behaviour is not tolerated.
  • Keep sound and music levels to a minimum.
  • No food, drinks, or personal belongings in riding areas.
  • Do not apply wax, paint or otherwise modify park features.
  • Place garbage and recycling in designated bins.
  • Report any damage, hazards, or vandalism on the City's website using See Click Fix (sprucegrove.org/SeeClickFix).
  • Follow posted signs
  • Respect park hours

Prohibited activities

  • No smoking, vaping, drugs or alcohol consumption.
  • No motorized vehicles (including e-scooters and e-bikes).
  • No graffiti, tagging, or defacing park property.
  • Do not remove or damage trees or plants.

Surveillance and reporting

  • The park is monitored by video surveillance.
  • Report suspicious or criminal activity immediately by calling 911.

Important: By using the Central Park wheeled sports park, you are doing so at your own risk. The City is not responsible for injuries or lost/damaged property. By using the park, you accept responsibility for your own safety and conduct. All provincial/federal laws and City bylaws apply.

Program Staff

All of the above activities are supervised by City of Spruce Grove Program Staff. Program Staff are certified in Intermediate First Aid and CPR, High Five® Principles of Healthy Child Development, and receive additional City of Spruce Grove training.

Inclusion for Campers with Disabilities

We want your child to have the best program experience. During the registration process, please let us know about any needs that might affect participation. If your child requires additional support beyond what Program Staff can provide, we may ask you to arrange for a support worker or aide to join at camp.

Refund and Transfer Policy

The full registration fee will be refunded or applied to a transfer up to 14 days prior to the start date of your program. Within 14 days of the program start date, a refund will not be provided. Refunds may take 5-7 business days to process.
