Art Explorer Camps

Unleash your creativity and embark on a summer of artistic discovery! Each week, young artists dive into hands-on projects, guest artist workshops, and inspiring field trips, all designed to spark imagination and bring ideas to life. From painting and sculpting to performing and experimenting, every camp offers a unique creative journey!

Art Explorers Camps provide a fun, safe, and engaging environment where kids can meet new friends, express themselves, and make lasting memories. Each week features exciting themes with a mix of arts and crafts projects, games, and interactive experiences.

Pre & Post Care Available

Need extra time? We've got you covered! Pre and Post-Care can be added at the time of registration. 

Early drop-off: 8 a.m.
Late pick-up: 5 p.m.

5-day camp: $25/week for early drop-off, $25/week for late pick-up
4-day camp: $20/week for early drop-off, $20/week for late pick-up

Week 1: Colour Quest

📅 July 6 – 10 | Ages 6-12 | Program: 12349
Colour Quest is a vibrant, hands-on week where participants explore creativity through colour-focused projects and playful experimentation. From learning the basics of colour theory and mixing on the colour wheel to creating Jackson Pollock inspired splatter paintings and Andy Warhol style pop art, participants will build confidence while expressing their unique artistic style. The program also features exciting activities like tie-dye, blacklight art, encouraging imagination, teamwork, and bold self-expression in a fun and supportive environment.

Week 2: Art in the Wild

Art in the Wild Camp invites young artists to explore creativity inspired by the beauty of nature. From making art projects with real flowers, leaf printing, sun art, nature collages, and earth themed master pieces. Participants will use natural materials and outdoor spaces as their creative studio. Through hands-on projects, outdoor exploration, and imaginative play, children will build artistic skills, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the world around them and discover that art is everywhere.

Week 3: Sculpt and Shape

📅 July 20 – 24 | Ages 6-12 | Program: 12351
This interactive week invites young artists to explore the world of sculpture, structure, and form using clay, cardboard, recycled materials, and found objects. Campers will experiment with building techniques, learn how to balance and support their creations, and discover how artists turn simple materials into imaginative masterpieces. From playful clay creatures and abstract sculptures to collaborative builds and larger-than-life creations, participants will strengthen problem-solving skills, fine motor development, and creative confidence — all while shaping their ideas into something they can see, touch, and proudly share.

Week 4: Around the World with Art

Travel the world this week through the eyes of an artist! Campers will embark on a journey across continents, exploring unique artistic traditions from around the globe. They’ll create vibrant Australian dot paintings, delicate Japanese watercolor, intricate Spanish tile mosaics, and iconic landmarks with Lego. A special studio session on indigenous beading will let campers learn traditional techniques from an expert artist. Join us to explore new cultures, experiment with creative techniques, and celebrate the power of art to connect us all.

Week 5: Draw and Discover

Draw & Discover invites young artists to build confidence and creativity while learning the foundations of drawing. Throughout the week, participants will explore the basics of drawing portraits and landscapes along with exploring drawing mediums like pencils, pastels, markers, and pens.  Through guided instruction, hands-on practice, and creative challenges, campers will strengthen their technical skills while developing their own artistic style. Whether they’re picking up a pencil for the first time or refining existing skills, this camp encourages curiosity, growth, and creative expression in a supportive studio environment.

Week 6: Musical Theatre (Act One)

Step into the spotlight and bring a story to life on stage! This immersive camp combines acting, singing, and dancing, as participants work with a guest director to rehearse and perform a play—all in the magical setting of Horizon Stage. From the first rehearsal to the final bow, campers will experience what it’s like to be part of a real production. The week culminates in a special performance, where family and friends can see the magic come to life on stage!

Week 7: Musical Theatre (Take Two)

📅 Aug 17 – 21 | Ages 8-14 | Program: 12355
Due to popular demand, we’re adding another week of Musical Theatre Camp. No previous participation is required—this camp starts fresh and is open to all experience levels.​ Step into the spotlight and bring a story to life on stage! This immersive camp combines acting, singing, and dancing, as participants work with a guest director to rehearse and perform a play—all in the magical setting of Horizon Stage. From the first rehearsal to the final bow, campers will experience what it’s like to be part of a real production. The week culminates in a special performance, where family and friends can see the magic come to life on stage!

Program Staff

All Art Explorer activities and field trips are supervised by City of Spruce Grove Program Staff. Program Staff are certified in Intermediate First Aid and CPR, High Five® Principles of Healthy Child Development, and receive additional City of Spruce Grove training

Inclusion for Campers with Disabilities

We want your child to have the best camp experience. During the registration process, please let us know about any needs that might affect participation. If your child requires additional support beyond what Program Staff can provide, we may ask you to arrange for a support worker or aide to join at camp.

Refund and Transfer Policy

The full registration fee will be refunded or applied to a transfer up to 14 days prior to the start date of your program. Within 14 days of the program start date, a refund will not be provided.  Refunds may take 5-7 business days to process.
