As social connection is directly related to one’s sense of belonging, neighbourhood connection is key to making neighbourhoods ‘’feel like home’’ to everyone.

The Connection Cultivators program aims at enhancing opportunities for neighbourhood connection throughout the city by providing support to residents who want to foster connection in their neighbourhood.

Why become a Connection Cultivator?

  • Meet new neighbours.
  • Share your gifts, skills and interests with others.
  • Turn your neighbourhood connection ideas into reality.
  • Play a key role in making your neighbourhood a better place to live.

What does a Connection Cultivator do?

Connection Cultivators do not have to be ‘the life of the party’, they just need to enjoy making their neighbours feel welcome and encourage interactions between them, whether it be by:

  • Welcoming new people to the neighbourhood.
  • Gathering neighbours together to help implement neighbourhood projects and activities.
  • Encouraging neighbours to share their interests and skills with one another.
  • Ensuring the neighbourhood is aware of opportunities to help strengthen connection.
  • And way more!

Each Connection Cultivator is unique, so connecting your neighbourhood can take many other forms!
