The City of Spruce Grove is proud to support and commission the creation of public art throughout the community. Several murals and art installations have been completed in recent years, which add to the beauty of our public spaces and bring people together to celebrate the heritage, history and values of our community. Current opportunities

Call for Indigenous Artists: Jubilee Park Mural Project

The City invites Indigenous artists and Indigenous artist-led teams living in Treaty 6 First Nations or within Métis Settlements & Métis Nation Regions within Treaty 6 territory to submit an expression of interest to create a permanent exterior painted mural at Jubilee Park. This is an invitation for artists to create meaningful public art for reflection and conversation in public spaces. The City welcomes concept proposals that bring further awareness and understanding of the relationships between First Peoples and citizens of Canada. This initiative is meant to reflect the fortitude and beauty of Indigenous Peoples and their cultures. The City invites concept proposals that honour First Nations’, Inuit and Métis individuals or communities, languages, ways of knowing, and/or conveys the Indigenous Canadian experience.

Submission deadline: September 15, 2024, 11:59 p.m.
Project: 8’ x 48’ exterior painted mural on panels.
Location: REMAX Spray Park building (north wall) at Jubilee Park (panels to be painted off site)
Artwork completion: On or before December 20, 2024
Artwork Installation: Spring 2025

Past opportunities

The City of Spruce Grove invites artists (individuals or groups) to submit a proposal for a "live" mural painting on a sea can which will be displayed at various outdoor events to help beautify our community. The expectation of this call is to incorporate public art in our upcoming 2024 Canada Day and Alberta Day Events. This call is open to any Canadian Artist(s) ages 18 and older, individuals, artist groups, and collectives are encouraged to apply.
