School Visits

Council Chambers

School engagement opportunities in Council Chambers are offered to Grade 3 classes from Spruce Grove schools, as municipal government is a key component of the Grade 3 curriculum.

School engagement includes a presentation in Council Chambers, where important City decisions are made. During the visit, students will receive an age‑appropriate overview of:

  • Municipal government (what a municipality is and what various City departments do)
  • Elections
  • The role of Council

Depending on availability, one or more members of Council may be in attendance.

Availability and scheduling

  • Council Chambers visits are by appointment only and are available Monday to Friday, except on Council meeting days and Governance and Priorities Committee meeting days, which are typically held on Mondays.
  • The session runs approximately 1 hour and no more than 50 students can be accommodated at one time in Council Chambers.
  • Timing is based on the availability of City Clerk’s Office staff. Due to other operational priorities, the City Clerk’s Office may not be able to accommodate all requested dates and times.
