New Spruce Grove Transit Centre now open
The new Spruce Grove Transit Centre is now officially open to transit riders from Spruce Grove and neighbouring municipalities.
Located at 50 Westwind Drive and adjacent to Heavy Metal Place, the Transit Centre is the hub for all commuter service into and out of Spruce Grove and features Park & Ride stalls, a passenger drop off/pick up zone, bike racks, and a heated shelter where riders can wait for their bus.
It is also a regular stop for the On-Demand Local Transit service, providing patrons of Heavy Metal Place another way to get there and enjoy all its amenities when the facility opens in 2025.
“We’re thrilled to have a dedicated Transit Centre in Spruce Grove that will serve the growing transportation needs of the community,” said Mayor Jeff Acker. “With its location near Heavy Metal Place, we were able to maximize use of the available land and provide shared parking for both facilities in one location, which is a significant benefit. We are proud of this investment in our community and would like to thank everyone who was involved in this important project.”
Construction of Heavy Metal Place is still underway but will not impact the operation of the Transit Centre or ability to access Park & Ride parking stalls; however, the Park & Ride stalls are temporarily limited to approximately 50 stalls on the southeast corner of the site until early 2025 when all the stalls will become available.
