City recruiting for Council Remuneration Review Advisory Committee
Interested in helping the community but find yourself a bit short on time? Apply for the City's Council Remuneration Review Advisory Committee!
Committee members will share their perspectives, review information and help develop a final report to Council regarding appropriate remuneration for the roles of Mayor and Councillor.
The Committee will meet, on average, once a week for approximately 8 weeks in late winter/early spring 2027, offering a short-term opportunity to contribute without taking on a year-round commitment.
For former committee member, Gayle Morozoff, one of the most valuable parts of the experience was working alongside residents who brought different backgrounds, opinions and experiences to the table.
“Just hearing everyone perspectives was very interesting. Realizing that everybody sees everything in a different way was helpful. We had good discussions and debates.”
Gayle believes the key to being an effective committee member is being willing to listen, ask questions and approach conversations with an open mind.
Looking back, she has no hesitation about whether the experience was worthwhile.
“I would absolutely do it again. I gained a lot of knowledge that opened my eyes.”
Her advice to anyone considering applying is simple: give it a try.
