City recognizes The Beer Hunter with Employer of the Year Award
The City of Spruce Grove is pleased to announce The Beer Hunter as the recipient of the 2025 Employer of the Year Award in recognition of their excellence in leadership, empowering teams, and inspiring futures.
“It is our privilege to recognize The Beer Hunter with this year’s Employer of the Year Award,” said Mayor Jeff Acker. “Owners Curtis and Shannon Mellott opened The Beer Hunter in Spruce Grove 2009. This family-friendly neighborhood pub employs 30 staff members and is known not only for great food, friendly service, and strong community support, it is also recognized as an excellent place to work, fostering a positive atmosphere for all.”
The Beer Hunter was presented with the award at the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Awards of Distinction on November 6, 2025. The City introduced the Employer of the Year Award in 2025 as a way to recognize local businesses that set exemplary standards as an outstanding employer.
“Winning Employer of the Year isn’t just my win—it reflects the kindness, trust, and understanding we’re all about at The Beer Hunter,” said Shannon Mellott. “We have an amazing team, and the workplace culture we strive to create fosters compassion among every staff member.”
The Beer Hunter fosters a positive workplace environment where each person’s strengths are recognized, personal well-being is prioritized, and collaboration and open communication is encouraged. The resulting culture is rooted in kindness, trust, and belonging, transforming the workplace into a place where employees don’t just work—they thrive.
