Boundary Road phase one construction wraps up to improve west-side traffic flow
Phase one of the Boundary Road project has been completed, marking a major milestone in this significant City investment which is now one step closer to improving traffic flow and connectivity on the west side of Spruce Grove.
This year, crews upgraded the section of road from the existing roundabout at Copperhaven School to Holy Trinity Catholic Church. This progress marks an exciting step forward for our community and sets the stage for the long-term benefits this project will bring to residents, businesses, and commuters when finished.
“Completing the first phase of the Boundary Road project is a significant milestone for Spruce Grove,” said Mayor Jeff Acker. “Upgrading this section of road will not only improve traffic flow and access on the west side of our city, but it also lays the foundation for long-term benefits for the community. We look forward to seeing the community take full advantage of these improvements after the road is complete next year.”
Construction, including a full road closure, is expected to continue south to Highway 16A in spring 2026. In the meantime, the north section of the Joint Trail along Boundary Road has temporarily reopened for the winter and will close again when road work resumes.
While the road is temporarily open for the winter, please note that road conditions are still being improved, and some work will continue. Speed limits in the area are expected to remain at 30 kilometres per hour, with a stop sign in place midway. Thank you for your patience as we continue investing in infrastructure to support a growing, connected community.
