Agrena update: Stu Barnes Arena reopening May 1
UPDATE - April 30, 2026:
Following a thorough assessment of the Agrena, we are pleased to share that the Stu Barnes Arena will reopen tomorrow (May 1).
The situation identified during construction has been addressed to allow for the safe operation of this portion of the facility. Construction activity will continue in the Grant Fuhr Arena, which will remain closed at this time.
We recognize this temporary closure impacted scheduled bookings and would like to thank user groups once again for your patience and flexibility as we took the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our community members and staff.
As construction at the Agrena progresses, any further impacts to operations will be communicated as needed.
If user groups have any questions regarding their bookings, City staff will be in touch and available to assist.

As part of the construction project currently underway at the Agrena, the contractor has identified some ongoing work that may impact the safe operation of the facility. As a result, the Agrena (including both the Grant Fuhr Arena and the Stu Barnes Arena) is temporarily closed until further notice.
The City will be reaching out to impacted user groups and we appreciate your understanding during this temporary closure. The health and safety of our community members and staff is our top priority, and we are taking the necessary steps to assess the situation, along with our contractor, to determine what may be required to open the space to users as soon as possible.
An update will be provided as more information becomes available.
