Microgrants

The Microgrant is one of two funding streams under the City’s Civic Grant Program. It provides one‑time start‑up funding to support individuals, community groups, and organizations in launching local projects that benefit residents and help build a strong, connected community. Projects must align with at least one of the following themes:

  • Social
  • Sport and Recreation
  • Arts, Culture and Heritage
  • Economic
  • Environmental
  • Multicultural

Funding of up to $1,500 is available per project.

Microgrant Objectives

  • Provide one‑time start‑up funding to help community projects get started or tested
  • Support projects that primarily benefit Spruce Grove residents and contribute to a strong, connected community
  • Encourage short‑term, pilot, or one‑time initiatives that respond to local needs or opportunities

Evaluation and Funding Decisions

Applications are reviewed by City Administration and evaluated for eligibility and alignment with program priorities. Funding recommendations are provided to the Community Services Advisory Committee (CSAC), which makes the final funding decisions.

CSAC Meeting Schedule

The Community Services Advisory Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month, except July, August, and December. Applicants are encouraged to review CSAC meeting dates when planning their submission.

Step 3: Complete the application

  • Complete the application in full using the template provided.
  • Applications must be submitted in Word format.

Step 4: Submit your application

The personal information you provide as part of the Microgrant application process is collected under section 4(c) of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) for the purpose of managing the Civic Grant Program. General information about approved grant funding, including the name of the successful applicant, the name of the funded project, and the total amount funded, may be proactively disclosed to the public through various channels, such as the City of Spruce Grove website, social media, print materials, or other public communications.
