Air Quality Monitoring Pilot
The City of Spruce Grove participated in a sponsored one-year outdoor air quality monitoring pilot, which collected data from March 5, 2024 to March 24, 2025. Liveable Cities, Innovative Solutions Canada & Environment and Climate Change Canada sponsored many municipalities across Canada, providing them with the air quality sensors and the monitoring for a one-year period at no cost to the municipality.
For the pilot, twenty-six (26) outdoor air quality sensors (SLX-PARTICULATE) were installed by FORTIS on FORTIS owned street lights throughout the City. The sensors recorded fine particulate matter in the air (PM2.5 and PM10).
At the conclusion of the trial, the City decided to end the pilot, remove the sensors, and export the collected data.
