UPDATE: Boundary Road closure delayed until Sunday, April 5

March 30, 2026
UPDATE March 31, 4:30 p.m.

The planned closure of Boundary Road has been delayed to Sunday, April 5 at 6 p.m. to accommodate traffic travelling to and from Holy Trinity Catholic Church for Easter services. The City will continue to closely monitor road conditions and maintain the road during that time. If conditions deteriorate to a point where travel becomes unsafe, the road may be closed earlier. After 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, the south section of Boundary Road from Highway 16A to the church will be closed to traffic. The north section from the church to Grove Drive will be limited to local traffic only. When construction begins on Boundary Road in mid-April, the entire road will be closed and a new temporary access will be constructed to provide access to the church from Grove Drive.

Spring conditions and the freeze-thaw cycle are impacting unpaved portions of Boundary Road in Spruce Grove. Recent assessments show the road surface is deteriorating and conditions are expected to worsen as temperatures rise. To ensure motorist safety and maintain the integrity of the road, a closure will be in place starting Thursday, April 2.

Boundary Road will be closed from Highway 16A northbound to Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The road will be limited to local traffic only from the roundabout on Grove Drive near Copperhaven School to allow access to the church and homes on Boundary Road.

Closures will remain in place into the spring when the roadway expansion construction project is expected to resume mid-April. At that time, the road will be fully closed to allow for construction.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
