Property maintenance helps create a cleaner, safer Spruce Grove—let’s do it together
May 29, 2025
Maintaining your property helps keep our community clean and safe, creating a welcoming, attractive place for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Last year the City of Spruce Grove introduced the Community Standards Bylaw, which provides clear guidance on property maintenance standards such as outdoor property care, yard upkeep, naturalized yards, yard storage and commercial property maintenance.
Maintaining your property comes with plenty of perks—like being a good neighbour, removing obstructions, reducing odours, keeping streets and alleys accessible, and showcasing your well-kept lawn!
Keep your property and neighbourhood safe and tidy with these tips:
- Remove outdoor obstructions from your property such as appliances and broken/unused vehicles, repair or replace damaged fences, and clear overgrown vegetation from sidewalks and alleys.
- Keep your yard neat by mowing grass regularly, managing weeds, and keeping compost stored neatly.
- Support your naturalized yard by planting a variety of species, inspecting for noxious weeds, and managing overgrown vegetation.
- Reduce unwanted odours by securely storing excess waste and garbage and keeping empty bottles in sealed containers indoors.
