King Street update: Temporary closures starting August 10

August 7, 2026

Starting August 10, sections of King Street will be temporarily closed to traffic in as crews work on underground infrastructure upgrades.

Construction will continue south from Fifth Avenue to Church Road with current lane closures extending to Church Road. The Jespersen Avenue intersection will temporarily be closed for one week starting August 10. To access City Hall, please use Jespersen Avenue from Main Street or Queen Street.

A full road closure will be in place from Brookside Avenue to Wellington Crescent. Intersections will be closed at different times as construction moves north to south.

  • The Brookside Avenue intersection will be closed for a few days starting August 10 and will be re-opened to local traffic after work on the intersection is completed.
  • The Wellington Crescent intersection and Brookwood Park access will be closed temporarily as work moves further south on King Street.

King Street between the two intersections will be closed for the entire construction period.

Closures are subject to weather conditions.

Please use alternate routes if possible. Remember to leave extra travel time, slow down, and pay close attention to construction signage and flaggers.
