Growing Strong: City Council approves new Strategic Plan

June 23, 2026

Spruce Grove City Council has approved the 2026-2029 Strategic Plan setting out the priorities that will guide the City's work over the next four years. The plan was shaped by conversations with the community during the 2025 municipal election and refined through a public survey earlier this spring.

The plan is built around four themes:

  • Building Community
  • Communications Excellence
  • Economic Opportunity
  • Strategic Partnerships

The themes reflect a city that is ready for what comes next, balancing the community connections that make Spruce Grove feel like home with the forward-looking investments that help it branch out.

"Spruce Grove is a place I am incredibly proud to call home, and this plan reflects everything that makes it special. Building connected neighbourhoods, growing our local economy, communicating openly with residents, and strengthening the partnerships that help us thrive: these are the priorities that will carry our community forward. This plan was truly shaped by those who call Spruce Grove home, and I am pleased to see it approved,” said Mayor Jeff Acker.

Key actions include creating a Community Safety Strategy focused on education, prevention, and enforcement; building a new outdoor aquatics facility; developing a long-term Transit Strategy; and encouraging the supply of serviced industrial land to support local jobs and a stronger tax base.

Residents can expect regular updates on how the plan is moving forward. Annual progress reports will be shared with Council and the public. The Strategic Plan webpage will be updated throughout the year so residents can follow along between reports. When priorities shift or adjustments are made, residents will be informed through social media posts, the CityPulse e-newsletter, and updates to our website.
