Boundary Road construction begins to improve west-side traffic flow

July 2, 2025

Starting Friday, July 4, construction is anticipated to begin on the Boundary Road corridor widening project. This new two-laned arterial road will improve traffic flow on the west side of Spruce Grove by providing the community with additional northbound access to Grove Drive from Highway 16A.

Construction this year will begin at the existing roundabout near Copperhaven School on Grove Drive, and end at the planned future roundabout north of Holy Trinity Catholic Church that will be constructed in 2026. Work will include building a two-lane arterial road, a new roundabout, the installation of new streetlights, water mains, sanitary sewers and storm sewers.

“The expansion of Boundary Road is such an important project for our community as it will improve traffic flow and expand access on the west side of the city, providing more options and supporting efficient travel for residents, businesses, and visitors to Spruce Grove,” said Mayor Jeff Acker. “It’s just one more way we are building a connected community and I’m excited for drivers to take advantage of this alternate route when it fully opens next year.”

During construction the road will be fully closed to traffic. Pedestrian trail access will be available, with temporary closures in place as necessary. Construction is anticipated to continue throughout the summer and into the fall of 2025. The project will resume in the spring of 2026, with roadway expansion continuing to connect to Highway 16A. The road is expected to open to the public in the fall of 2026.

Please remember to slow down, watch for workers and follow road signage when in the area.
