Baseball field named in recognition of former mayor Stuart Houston

July 2, 2026

A ball diamond at Henry Singer Ball Park has been named Stuart Houston Field in recognition of Spruce Grove’s former mayor and his dedication to baseball development in the community.

For 17 years, Houston was involved in Spruce Grove’s minor baseball program as a coach, manager, and rep director. In partnership with Stony Plain and Parkland County, his passion and leadership led to the creation and growth of the Spruce Grove Whitesox AAA program which would lead to the foundation of the current Parkland Twins program.

Houston also served the City of Spruce Grove for 24 years as both a councillor and mayor where he continued to champion recreational facility development. He was honoured with an Award of Excellence in Community Service in 2026.

Stuart Houston Field is located at the Henry Singer Ball Park at 130 South Avenue.
