Fruit Tree Harvest Map

Fruit trees and shrubs can be found in public spaces around the City of Spruce Grove, and some go unpicked each year. The City of Spruce Grove’s easy to use, interactive Fruit Tree Harvest Map can help you find edible fruit growing on public land within City limits. The map includes intentionally planted fruit-bearing trees and shrubs such as apples, blueberries, cherries, currants, haskaps, raspberries, saskatoons, strawberries and rhubarb.

Explore the map, then visit the locations to see what is available during the growing season. Fruit may not always be ready to harvest, as availability depends on the type of plant, weather and growing conditions. The map only includes fruit-bearing trees and shrubs that were intentionally planted. Plants growing in wooded areas, such as the Heritage Grove trails, are not included.

Harvest responsibility

If you harvest fruit from public land, please do so safely and responsibly. Harvesting should never damage the tree or shrub. Do not break branches, prune trees or remove woody material.

You are responsible for your own safety and for correctly identifying anything you plan to eat. Always wash fruit thoroughly before eating it. Please also be respectful of public spaces and leave the area clean for others to enjoy.

Food sustainability

Harvesting fruit can help reduce food waste. Public fruit trees also contribute to Spruce Grove’s urban forest. By mapping fruit-bearing trees and shrubs, the City can better understand and manage its urban forest while working toward a healthy and growing tree canopy.
