Recovery Framework to Address Impacts of COVID-19
The City of Spruce Grove has developed a draft recovery framework to assist in helping the community recover from the effects of COVID-19 and return to a sustainable and resilient city.
The recovery framework was presented to Spruce Grove City Council during a Committee of the Whole meeting on May 19. Council members accepted the draft framework for information.
The framework includes three key themes that will be critical to address throughout the recovery:
- Governance – finding ways to reduce red tape and increase administrative efficiency in order to streamline services for residents and facilitate a faster and more efficient return to operating status for business.
- Economic – investing in various projects designed to stimulate the local economy, while assessing business community health and collaborating with business stakeholders and regional organizations to develop recovery policies and initiatives.
- Community – strengthening our social fabric by helping local community groups to access local, regional, and provincial resources to support a healthy, resilient, and vibrant community and address the needs of vulnerable populations.
Decisions and actions that come out of the framework will be short, medium, and long-term in nature to provide support immediately, as well as throughout the recovery process.
The City’s framework will be dependent on the Government of Alberta’s relaunch strategy , as this may have an impact on timelines and outcomes. It has also been designed to be flexible and adaptable, as the situation with COVID-19 is ever-changing and the framework needs to be able to adjust accordingly.
There will also be opportunities for community engagement throughout this process. Details will be shared with the community as they become available.
