Sanitary sewer rate increase effective January 1
Starting January 1, 2024, the City of Spruce Grove’s sanitary sewer services fee will rise to $2.32/m3, reflecting an increase of $0.30/m3 from the 2023 rate.
This rate is higher than the $2.20/m3 rate that was approved by Spruce Grove City Council in the 2024-2026 Corporate Plan on December 4, 2023. This additional increase is necessary to respond to a recent rate hike that is being imposed by the City’s wastewater treatment provider, ARROW Utilities. The City received notice from ARROW Utilities of this additional $0.12/m3 increase in late November and in order to sustain a balanced budget, must transfer this increase to utility account holders.
As a result, utility customers will see an increase of approximately $4.20 per month for the sanitary sewer services fee, based on average household water consumption of 14 cubic metres.
ARROW Utilities is a not-for-profit commission of 13 Edmonton-region municipalities, including Spruce Grove, that provides the transmission and treatment of wastewater for over 400,000 people.
More information about utility rates can be found on the City’s website.
