Free single session counselling services now available to residents in Tri-Municipal Region

In response to COVID-19, Spruce Grove Family and Community Support Services is pleased to introduce Parkland Connect, a free single session counselling service for residents living in the Tri-Municipal Region.

From July 7–Oct. 28, the single session counselling service will be offered on Tuesdays from 12–8 p.m. and Wednesdays from 12–3 p.m.

Each appointment will be 50 minutes in length and facilitated by Aspire Psychological Services through secure video conferencing or phone call.

Topics that will be explored include coping during COVID-19 and goal setting. Counsellors will propose an action plan that builds on the participant’s strengths, ideas and abilities, and provide additional resources as required.

Appointments can only be booked up to one week in advance. Starting Sunday, July 5, bookings for each upcoming week will open on Sundays at 3 p.m.

You can book a session in one of two ways:

  1. Visit and choose Parkland Connect. Follow the prompts to select an available session time and complete the forms that are emailed to you.
  2. Call 780-719-5121 on Sundays from 3–4 p.m. when the Parkland Connect phone line is staffed. Please complete the forms that are emailed to you. If you do not have access to email, staff will go over brief screening questions with you on the phone.

Who is the Parkland Connect counselling service for?
The Parkland Connect counselling service is being offered in response to COVID-19 and is available to all residents living in the Tri-Municipal Region. Many have been impacted by the pandemic and some are experiencing financial stress, job loss, domestic violence and major changes to their daily routines.

How does video counselling work?
When you book your appointment, you will receive a link to, a secure video counselling platform. Simply click the link and you’ll be admitted to the virtual waiting room. You can click the “pre-call test” to ensure your device is working. Please take your device to a confidential, quiet and comfortable space for your session.

Note: you do not need to create an account with to participate.

Why can appointments not be booked more than one week in advance?
Our counselling model allows people to access counselling when they need it without experiencing the long delays that are often associated with appointments.

Can I book more than one session?
Although this service is designed for single session counselling and you can book only one week at a time, it is possible in some circumstances to have more than one session.

If I book more than one session, will I see the same counsellor?
The Parkland Connect counselling model is designed so that it is not necessary to see the same counsellor and still receive the benefits from each counselling session. Also, due to the type of service provided, the reason you may be re-booking may be different from your previous appointment.
