Council asks staff to develop bylaw with options for a staged approach regarding face coverings

August 5, 2020

City Council has asked City Administration to develop a bylaw that would incorporate options for a staged approach to the potential implementation of mandatory face coverings in Spruce Grove.

During a special Council meeting on Aug. 4, City Council was presented with information and options on the use of face coverings, including the results from a public survey.

After reviewing the information and discussing various options, Council directed Administration to come back with a bylaw that includes options for a staged approach to potentially implementing mandatory face coverings. The draft bylaw will return to Council for further consideration during the Aug. 17 virtual Council meeting.

Additionally, Council asked Administration to launch an education and awareness campaign about face coverings to highlight and promote their use in helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
