Coronavirus (COVID-19)

March 12, 2020

The health and safety of our community and our staff is a top priority. With the situation surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19 ) continuing to unfold, we want to assure residents that the Spruce Grove Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19. The City of Spruce Grove has plans, partnerships, and resources in place to support our staff as well as the community and are taking necessary actions.

At this time, the current risk in Alberta is low and City operations will continue to provide services as usual. We are however preparing and planning for how we will address it if the current situation changes. While it is business as usual, we are taking steps to address the growing issue. These steps include things like the placement of additional hand sanitizers throughout City facilities and making adjustments to janitorial standards.

Everyone has a role to play in getting ready and staying healthy. Please remember the following good health habits to prevent the spread of germs:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Do not share water bottles or similar containers.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Routinely clean frequently touched surfaces and objects.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Contact your healthcare provider/Health Link 811 if you have further questions or concerns about the virus.

All Albertans are encouraged to visit alberta.ca/COVID19 for the latest information, guidance and resources.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community well.
