Community Homeless Winter Emergency Response Launches November 1

October 26, 2021

The Community Homeless Winter Emergency Response was created within Spruce Grove to reduce the risk for unsheltered individuals during periods of extreme cold weather.

The emergency response will be active when the temperature, including wind chill factor, drops to -25 C or lower for a 24 hour period. The response will be based around a late night café model which is a warm place to go when an alert is active to stay warm.  Cold weather supplies will be available at the late night café and transportation will be available to and from the late night café.

Between November 1, 2021 and April 1, 2022 updates on when the response is active can be found at

The late night café will be located at the Congregational Christian Fellowship Church (445 King Street, Spruce Grove) and will operate from 11pm – 6am when the response is active.

Participants who attend the late night café will be required to screen for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to entering.  Participants will be expected to follow public health measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
