On Tuesday, June 9, the Province of Alberta announced it will be moving up the start date for Stage 2 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy to Friday, June 12, which is a full week earlier than originally anticipated.
As part of Stage 2, some restrictions are being lifted to allow for additional businesses and services to reopen; however, it is important to remember that public health orders and guidelines remain in effect. This includes physical distancing, adhering to gathering size restrictions, following healthy hygiene habits, and staying home if you feel unwell.
Some of the additional services, businesses, and activities that can reopen with restrictions and additional measures in place include team-based sports (mini leagues or bubbles) and indoor/outdoor recreation and fitness centres.
Spruce Grove’s Emergency Management Agency is currently reviewing the available guidelines and requirements for the Stage 2 relaunch to determine what impacts this may have on the City’s operations and service levels.
Residents are asked for their patience as reopening facilities for public use can take time and it’s important to ensure that when they do re-open, it’s done so in a safe manner. Furthermore, depending on provincial guidelines and restrictions, it’s possible that service levels may be different than what was offered prior to the pandemic.
The City’s top priority continues to be the health and safety of staff and the community. All of the City’s recommendations and decisions are based on provincial guidelines, demand, municipal resources, and financial viability.
It’s also important to remember there is still a risk of infection of the COVID-19 virus; please continue to use caution and take appropriate measures, including following all public health orders, to minimize the risk of exposure in public settings.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we all work together to keep our community safe and well.
