City recognizes Ken Morrison, RE/MAX Excellence with Community Spirit Award
The City of Spruce Grove is pleased to announce Ken Morrison, RE/MAX Excellence as the recipient of the 2022 Community Spirit Award. For over 20 years, Ken has supported the community of Spruce Grove, and as an independent realtor and associate with RE/MAX Excellence, he knows the City inside out.

“We are honoured to recognise Ken Morrison, RE/MAX Excellence with the 2022 Community Spirit Award,” says City of Spruce Grove Mayor Jeff Acker. “Ken has consistently shown generosity in countless ways throughout the decades and continues to be an important member of our business and greater community.”
Ken was presented with the award at the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Awards of Distinction on November 3, 2022. To recognize local businesses that demonstrate outstanding community support and make significant contributions to our municipality, the City of Spruce Grove initiated the Community Spirit Award in 2009.
Some of Ken’s community contributions include:
- The Ken Morrison RE/MAX Excellence Athletic Scholarship that annually supports two student athletes at Spruce Grove Composite High School
- More than $10,000 in donations for a student breakfast program at Brookwood School
- More than $100,000 in donations to the Stollery Children’s Hospital and designation as a top contributor for RE/MAX Alberta
- Naming rights sponsorship for the Ken Morrison RE/MAX Excellence Gymnastics Gymnasium at the Border Paving Athletic Centre and the Ken Morrison/REMAX Excellence Spray Park in Jubilee Park
- Previous sponsorship of the City’s Fuhr Sports Park and the Spruce Grove Saints Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) hockey team
Ken grew up in Spruce Grove, and shares:
“I moved to Spruce Grove when I was six months old and growing up, I was able to participate in different sports and activities thanks to the time and financial support of businesses, educators, coaches, and other community leaders. This is something I have never forgotten, and it is important for me to give back to the community I love and call home. I want the generations that follow to have the same opportunities and advantages I had thanks to the generosity of others.”
Ken joins good company with recent past winners of the Community Spirit Award: Golden Spike Lumber (2021), Cross Country Infrastructure Services (2020) and Wilhauk Beef Jerky (2019).
As part of this acknowledgement, Ken has also been gifted a framed original painting titled Flight of a Butterfly by local artist Shannon Payne. Congratulations on winning the 2022 Community Spirit Award, Ken!
