Vote at home
Incapacitated elector at home
The City of Spruce Grove will have a mobile poll available for voters who, due to physical incapacity or limited mobility, are unable to leave their residence to attend a voting station. Incapacitated elector at home voting will be offered on one day in the last week of June (yet to be determined).
If an elector wishes to use this service, they will need to contact the Returning Officer so that a visit may be scheduled. The returning officer requires the following information:
- name of the voter;
- physical address of the residence;
- telephone number; and
- the reason the voter cannot attend a voting station.
The returning officer will advise of the specific time the election officials will visit their home to administer the vote. When the election official visits their home, the elector will be required to provide identification and complete a voting register that will be provided.
The City of Spruce Grove will provide institutional voting for residents at a number of facilities that meet the requirements of an auxiliary hospital, nursing home, or seniors’ accommodation facility under the Local Authorities Election Act. Further information will be posted when the location and times are finalized.
The voting stations located at Horizon Stage and the Holiday Inn Express & Suites on Election Day are fully accessible and have an automatic opening door. The Pioneer Centre is also wheelchair accessible for those who wish to attend an advance voting opportunity. Please let our election staff know if you have any accessibility challenges while at the voting station and how they can help.
If an elector is unable to read or does not understand the English language, an interpreter may be permitted to read or translate the statement and voting instructions to the elector. The interpreter will be required to make a statement at the voting station.
If you are blind or have any other condition that would prevent you from marking the ballot, you may request that a deputy returning officer or a friend or relative over the age of 18, assist you in marking your ballot. The individual assisting will be required to make a statement before they may accompany you in a voting compartment to assist.
For more information on voting station accessibility, please contact the Returning Officer.
