Regular City Council Meeting
Council presented Warrant Officer Marc Hall with a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement for receiving the NATO Allied Command Operations Military Member of the Year award held June 21, 2018 in Naples, Italy.
Caitlyn Cox and Mairi Kenyon with KPMG LLP presented Council with the plan and process for the audit of the 2019 financial statements.
Yellowhead Regional Library Board Update
Councillor Rothe provided Council with a brief update on the Yellowhead Regional Library’s recently approved 2020 budget.
Council approved the 2020-2022 Corporate Plan.
Council gave third reading to Bylaw C-1092-19, an amendment to the Traffic Bylaw C-911-15 proposing to provide increased clarity of sections of the Bylaw that describe homeowner responsibilities for landscape developments and landscape maintenance within roadway rights-of-ways and alleys.
Council gave third reading to Bylaw C-1093-19, which outlines the proposed 2019 fees for water, wastewater and waste management, transit, cemetery and Tribute Park, fines and penalties and other administrative services.
Council approved Administration to proceed with the implementation of the Single-Use Items Reduction Strategy to support waste and litter reduction through a complete ban on the distribution of retail plastic bags, plastic straws and polystyrene cups and take out containers from retail and food establishments. .
Council approved merging Stony Plain’s HandiBus Program and the Spruce Grove Specialized Transit Service to establish a single Accessible Transportation Service (ATS). The ATS will be operated by the Town of Stony Plain in collaboration with the City of Spruce Grove.
Council directed Administration to plan a mayor and council levee to be held in early 2020.
