Regular City Council Meeting
Lenny Richer, General Manager of the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre, presented the 2018 Annual Report to Council.
Council approved the use of funds from the TransAlta Tri-Leisure Centre’s Restricted Reserve that will fund the TransAlta Tri-Leisure Centre’s portion of the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre – Recreation Energy Conservation Grant.
Councillor Stevenson provided Council with an update on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Conference that she and Mayor Houston recently attended in Quebec City.
Councillor Stevenson brought forward the following Notice of Motion:
That Administration explore developing a community orchard as part of the 2020-2022 Corporate Planning Process and that an interim report be brought back to Council prior to the 2019 corporate plan deliberations.
Councillor Oldham brought forward the following Notice of Motion:
That $25,000 be allocated from Council contingency to increase the existing enhanced community policing budget.
Administration provided Council with information on the planned installation of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the Public Works building in 2019.
Council gave first, second and third reading to Bylaw C-1075-19, which will replace City Manager’s Bylaw C-539-04.
Council gave first, second and third reading to Bylaw C-1081-19, amending a specific clause that allows the City to move beyond interest-only financing to mature project financing as contemplated under the original credit facility agreements.
