Adopt-A-Driveway

What is the Adopt-A-Driveway program?
Adopt-A-Driveway is a volunteer service program where individuals, families, organizations, businesses and other groups commit to removing snow from the driveways and sidewalks of Spruce Grove residents who are unable to perform this task for themselves. The program is offered through a partnership between NeighbourLink Parkland and Spruce Grove FCSS.
How does the Adopt-A-Driveway program work?
Volunteers are matched with a resident and committed to that same individual throughout the entire winter season. Volunteers are also welcome to adopt more than one driveway if desired.
Then, when the snow arrives, volunteers are asked to clear the snow from their resident’s home within 48 hours of it falling. It’s also a good idea to check on the home once a week or so to ensure no ice has accumulated.
Who can participate in the program?
The Adopt-A-Driveway program is for low income seniors and people with disabilities who require assistance to clear their homes of snow.
Anyone can volunteer to participate in the program. It’s a fun and healthy opportunity for citizens of all ages to enjoy the outdoors while making a personal contribution to improving the quality of life of another in need.
Why should I get involved?
The program is a proactive approach to helping residents who can’t clear their own driveways and entrances. Instead of worrying about how they will manage and scrambling for help after a snowfall, the resources for these residents are already in place, providing them with peace of mind and ensuring they are not snowbound.
Adopting a driveway also helps foster a sense of ownership and goodwill, encourages civic responsibility and pride in the community, and builds appreciation and connection between citizens of all ages.
How can I get involved?
If you are interested in volunteering, or you are a Spruce Grove resident who needs to have your snow removed, please call NeighbourLink Parkland at 780-960-9669 or send e-mail
to request an information / application package.
