Business Licences


All businesses or individuals providing goods and or services to the residents of the City of Spruce Grove must complete a Business Licence Application PDF to obtain a business licence, including all sub-trades and non-profit organizations. Non-profit organizations are exempt from licensing fees providing they show proof of non-profit status. Some professional organizations may be exempt from licensing fees by federal or provincial legislation.

Business licences are not required to hold a garage sale.

If you have a resident business located in either Parkland County, Stony Plain or Spruce Grove you may be eligible for a Tri-Municipal Business licence which would eliminate the need for a separate licence in each of the three municipalities.

You may also be required to obtain other permits such as a City of Spruce Grove Development Permit, Building Permit, health approval from Alberta Health Services or a provincial licence from Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC).

A development permit may be required if you are operating a home based business or if you are changing the use of a business space. We suggest you do not sign a lease or begin interior alterations until you get a valid development permit. You will also need to complete a Home Occupation Application PDF.

It is your responsibility to ensure that all provincial or municipal regulations are met.
