Overview

City Policy 6032, Community Service Partnership Program sets the parameters for the Community Service Partnership program. The goals of this program are to:

  1. Enhance the opportunity to complete city projects through the use of volunteer labour and;
  2. Provide an opportunity for local community groups to raise funds while providing a service to the community.

Responsibilities

The City of Spruce Grove:

  • will develop and maintain a database of qualifying community groups
  • will match available projects to a qualifying community group
  • will ensure all qualifying community groups have equal opportunity to complete city projects
  • will host an orientation meeting before starting the project to review all safety concerns related to the project
  • will provide all safety equipment necessary to complete the project in a safe manner
  • will provide supervision to ensure the project is a success
  • will provide the necessary ‘consumables’ to complete the project
  • will inspect the work upon completion of the project and inform the community group if further work is required
  • will provide payment to the community group within 30 days of the completion of the project
  • will market and promote this opportunity to local community groups

Volunteer Group:

  • will provide current proof of incorporation as a society under the Alberta’s Society Act
  • will apply annually to Community Service Partnership Program to retain membership
  • will ensure the volunteer supervisor attends the orientation meeting with City staff
  • will provide a volunteer supervisor to coordinate a Toolbox safety meeting for all volunteers as per the City’s health and safety program
  • will provide the agreed-upon volunteers at the time and location determined by the City
  • will complete the project to the specifications set out by the City
  • will complete the project in the agreed-upon time
