Week-long Adventure Camps


Join us for a summer filled with excitement and adventure! Each week we will embark on a new journey and experience things never done before. Each day is totally different! You might be biking and hiking, participating in water activities, or taking part in different games, crafts and special events. Meet new friends or make new memories with old ones. There is something at adventure camp for everyone!

Note: all participants must have a Recreation Program waiver form PDF signed in order to participate in the Week-long Adventure Camp.

Week 1: July 4 - 7, 2017 (4 day week) Canadian Heritage - 10512

Celebrate Canadian Indigenous culture. Participants will experience a holistic approach to learning using Indigenous traditions including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.  These teachings will be demonstrated in cultural sport games, nature walks and play.  Enjoy an in-house field trip with an Elder who will share wisdom through traditional stories and make heritage based crafts in a tipi. Wrap things up by cooking bannock on a fire!  


Week 2: July 10 - 14, 2017 Down the Garden Path - 10513  Program FULL

This one’s for you city slickers. Time to get the dirt on the food you eat and see how green your thumb is! Learn how to grow greens, care for the earth and enjoy nature at its best! Finish up the week with a visit to Happy Acres U-Pick to experience a growing garden in action.


Week 3: July 17 - 21, 2017 Cool Construction - 10514 Program FULL

It’s better to build! Develop skills at designing, making, repairing and revising. Learn about the future in construction and opportunities in your own community. Check out construction simulators and tour a site while visiting an educational centre during the local field trip. Construction has never looked so cool!


Week 4: July 24 - 28, 2017 Wild Child - 10515 Program FULL

Get a hands-on experience of the wildness in your own backyard! Venture through the great outdoors, learn to be free in the outdoors and learn the solitude of nature. Explore your wild side at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden field trip.


Week 5: July 31 - Aug 4, 2017 Groovy Beach Daze - 10516 Program FULL

Celebrate the hazy days of summer.  Live through a week of decades to see how styles and technology have changed through the years. Learn classic board games, old-school crafts and see what life was like before smart phones and internet! An epic beach party brings us back to the future to finish off the week!


Week 6: Aug. 8 -11, 2017  (4 day week) Pioneering Through the Past - 10517

Have you ever wondered what it was like to live 100 years ago? Alberta was a young province with families looking for opportunities in farming, logging and great railway. The internet was almost a century away, so news travelled through small communities with a local newspaper. Create your own newspaper of the community’s history and see the past through the eyes of the pioneers with traditional crafts, games and a visit to a local museum.


Week 7: Aug. 14 - 18, 2017 Seriously Science - 10518 Program FULL

Bring the excitement of science, technology, engineering and math to camp! A week of impressive science experiments and weird workshops all in the comfort of our day-camp home. The University of Alberta DiscoverE camps will host their field trips here in Spruce Grove. It’ll be a blast!  

 Week 8: Aug. 21-24, 2017 (4 day week)
Best of the Best! - 10519 Program FULL

It’s the last week of camp and we are going out with a bang! Experience the favorite games and best activities of the summer. Spray Park mania and more…. we don’t want to give away all the fun!



Wait-lists are offered if the program is full. 

Registration Fees:

4 - day week - $135/participant/week
5 - day week - $155/participant/week

Registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Program fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Note:

  • Early drop off begins at 8 a.m.
  • Late pick up is available until 4 p.m. 
  • No additional charge for early drop off or late pick up.

Refund and transfer policy

The full registration fee will be refunded or applied to a transfer up to 14 days prior to the start of the program. Within 14 days of the program start date, a refund will not be provided.

Senior and Junior Leader Opportunities

High school and university students are employed as leaders, and work in pairs to plan and deliver the programs. Look for job opportunities in March, 2017 (Coordinator positions) and May, 2017 (Senior / Junior positions).
