Clothes Washer Rebate Program
Front-loading clothes washers typically use about half the water and electricity of a conventional top-loading machine. On average residents save $96 on their water bill and over 26,000 litres of water per year. Residents also save additional money on their energy bills. Front-loaders tend to clean clothes better and with less water. Also, they are one of the most immediately effective ways to reduce your energy use and lower your greenhouse gas emissions.
The City’s Clothes Washer Program offers homeowners a cash rebate of $100 for the purchase of an ENERGY STAR®
qualified washing machine. This program will continue in 2012 on a first come first served basis while funds last. Apply early to ensure you get your rebate!
Why purchase an ENERGY STAR® washing machine?
- Reduce your water and energy use!
- Lower your greenhouse gas emissions!
- Save money on your utility bills!
- Receive a $100 rebate to put towards your purchase!

Step #2 – Purchase clothes washer
All ENERGY STAR®
models are eligible for the City's rebate. Some models are more efficient than others. Research models and talk to sales staff to make sure you are getting the level of efficiency you are looking for. Remember, a more efficient machine will decrease your water and energy costs and your environmental impact. Front-loading machines tend to be more efficient but this is not always the case.
