Corporate Plan


In 2012, the City completed a comprehensive corporate planning process that resulted in the development of the 2013-2015 Strategic Plan, corporate business plan, department business plans and fiscal plan. These plans establish the priorities of City services and projects, and are supported by a sound fiscal plan that serves the best interest of the community.

The strategic plan is a dynamic document that requires annual review by Spruce Grove City Council and sets goals and strategies for the next three years. The strategic plan ensures a long-term plan is in place to help capitalize on opportunities, focus on the City's vision and ensure Spruce Grove is the best place to live, work and play.

City Council adopted the 2013–2015 Strategic Plan in April 2012. The strategic plan is updated annually to reflect changing trends, demographics, community needs, opportunities and expectations. This plan will guide the city and help it evolve as the community changes and grows.

The strategic plan is built on four themes:

  1. Sustainability
  2. Economic development
  3. Partnerships
  4. Continuing to enhance services

Based on the priorities that were identified in the strategic plan, the corporate plan is then developed. The corporate plan is the City’s principal guiding document for governance, community development and service delivery. City Council adopted the 2013 – 2015 Corporate Plan PDF during the Nov. 26, 2012, council meeting.

The goal of the plan is to continue providing residents with a high quality of life at an affordable rate, while also staying the strategic course of municipal economic sustainability. The corporate plan outlines the City’s plans and projects for the next three years.

What’s planned for 2013?

The City will continue providing essential year-round municipal services. These include:

  • Snow removal and street sweeping
  • Garbage/organics collection and the blue bag recycling program
  • The Eco Centre 
  • Water and sewer
  • The Spruce Grove Public Library (through municipal funding)
  • Family and Community Support Services information and referrals 
  • Parks, trails and playground maintenance
  • Recreational facilities, such as the Agrena, Fuhr Sports Park and Henry Singer ball diamonds
  • Peace officers, Bylaw officers, RCMP, and fire and emergency medical services

The 2013–2015 Corporate Plan also identifies several new initiatives for 2013 in the following areas:
