Corporate Plan

At the beginning of each year, Spruce Grove City Council develops and adopts a three-year strategic plan, a corporate business plan and department business plans. These plans establish the priorities of City services and projects, and are supported by a sound fiscal plan that serves the best interests of the community.

The 2012 – 2014 Strategic Plan is a dynamic document that requires annual review and is the foundation for the development of the City’s three-year business plans and fiscal plan. It sets goals and strategies for the next three years and will evolve with the city, its changing profile and the needs that emerge. It also ensures a long-term plan is in place to make Spruce Grove is the best place to work, live and play.

City Council adopted the 2012 – 2014 Strategic Plan in May 2011. Based on information from resident and council feedback, and assessment of current environmental trends, the strategic plan is built on four themes:

1. Sustainability
2. Economic development
3. Partnerships
4. Continuing to enhance services 

Based on the priorities that were identified in the strategic plan, the 2012 – 2014 Corporate Plan is then developed. The corporate plan is the City’s principal guiding document for governance, community development and service delivery. City Council adopted the 2012 – 2014 Corporate Plan  during the Nov. 28, 2011, council meeting.

The goal of the plan is to maintain the City’s existing service levels, while also meeting the needs of a growing community, at an affordable rate and sustainable pace. It also outlines the City’s plans and projects for the next three years.

What’s planned for 2012?

The City will continue providing essential year-round municipal services. These include but are not limited to:

• Road maintenance, including snow removal and street sweeping
• Garbage / organics collection and the blue bag recycling program
• The Eco Centre
• Water and sewer services
• The Spruce Grove Public Library (through grant funding)
• Family and Community Support Services information and referrals
• Parks, trails and playground maintenance
• Recreational facilities, such as the Agrena, Henry Singer ball diamonds and Fuhr Sports Park
• Peace officers, RCMP, and fire and emergency medical services 
• Transit

The 2012 – 2014 Corporate Plan also identifies several new initiatives for 2012 in the following areas:

• Programs and events
• Parks and recreation
• Roads, water and sewer
• Emergency and enforcement services
• Future plans
