Help reduce theft from vehicles in Spruce Grove

Spruce Grove RCMP has recently reported a large increase in the number of reported thefts from vehicles in the last few weeks. Even though Spruce Grove is a safe community with low crime rates, the occasional incidents are still going to occur, but luckily most vehicle crime is opportunistic and easily preventable.

Ways to prevent thefts from your vehicle

1. Lock your vehicle - thieves generally take the easiest route, which means if you leave your vehicle unlocked, it’s very easy for them to steal whatever is inside.
2. Remove all valuables - never leave anything on display that might attract the attention of thieves. If it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind.
3. Be aware of where you park - always use your garage if you have one and if not, always try to park in a well-lit, open place.
4. Install an alarm - they are a great deterrent and prevent thieves from stealing items from your vehicle or from stealing your vehicle.
5. Use The Club - you can use a steering locking device such as The Club every time you leave your vehicle.
