There are numerous opportunities in our communities for sponsorship and donations. However, remember to make sponsorship a reciprocating relationship. If you are going to visit local businesses and ask for funding, are you supporting those businesses?
In the same way that a healthy non-profit recognizes its volunteers, sponsors deserve recognition as well.
Track your sponsors, recognize them, ensure you are not asking more than annually, have a plan so different volunteers from the same organization do not request sponsorship for the same event, and be sure to follow up.
