Changes coming to Spruce Grove transit service

All changes go into effect on Sept. 8, 2015

Transit change August 2015Spruce Grove's transit service is getting a new name, a revised route and a new fare option - and it all goes into effect on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015.

Currently called ETS Route 197, as of Sept. 8, the transit service will be called ETS Route 560. Changing the route's number will help support the City's future transit plans, including the possibility of new routes and additional service.

In anticipation of full LRT service at NAIT, a route alignment is also being made to Route 560 to help save time. Starting Sept. 8, Route 560 will exit the Yellowhead Highway at 121 Street and continue to Kingsway Boulevard where it will turn on to Princess Elizabeth Avenue and stop at NAIT at 106 Street.

From there, the bus will continue east to 101 Street and head south with a stop at 111 Avenue to support the Glenrose Rehabilitation and Royal Alexandra Hospitals, before continuing into downtown Edmonton.

A new fare option for transit service is also being introduced in the form of 10-ticket booklets. Each booklet will cost $48 and each ticket is valid for a one-way adult fare on ETS Route 560. Ticket booklets can be purchased at City Hall starting Sept. 8.

Introducing this fare option provides more flexibility for residents who may not need or want the commitment or cost of a monthly pass and paying a cash fare isn't always convenient.

The ticket booklets are also more cost effective, working out to $4.80 per trip, compared to the $6 cash fare.
