Cool temperatures didn’t stop Spruce Grove residents from coming out to celebrate the grand opening of Spruce Grove’s new off-leash park on Nov. 5.

The park, located at Century Road south of Diamond Avenue, was filled with local dog owners and their four-legged friends who joined Spruce Grove Mayor Stuart Houston and other members of City Council for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to help open the City’s new off-leash park,” said Houston. “We had a great turnout and I know this park will be well used by the community.”

It was also an opportunity for people to take their pups on a tour of the off-leash park and check out its many features, which include:

  • A double-gated entry
  • A designated section of the park for small dogs
  • More than 8.6 acres of fenced off-leash park area
  • Almost 1 kilometre (900 metres) of gravel walking trails
  • Multiple seating areas with benches and trees
  • Doggie bag dispensers and waste receptacles
  • 44 parking stalls
  • Portable toilet

Treats were available for all the dogs in attendance to help mark the special occasion and thank them for coming out.
